| 1. Drive is not recognized by system. |
1-1. If the power connector is not inserted, reinsert it.
1-2. If the interface connector is not inserted or is not completly
inserted or is reversed, disconnect and reinsert it. The total length of
the interface IDE cable should be no more than 18 inches.
1-3. If the jumper-pin setting is wrong, confirm the setting and correct
it.
1-4. If you connect CD-R/RW drive to Ultra ATA66 cable (80 pin), it may
not operate normally for recording. Please connect CD-R/RW drive to
interface IDE cable (40 pin).
1-5. The device driver is supported by the built in ATAPI driver that is
included in the Windows series system. You don't need to install another
device driver. Under upgraded versions of Windows NT 4.0, it selects the
ATAPI IDE controller automatically and recognizes the CD-ROM drive. |

disc tray was closed, there may be a problem with the engagement of the
gears inside the drive. Please contact Dell customer service.

to 1-3. |
| 4. Certain types of discs cannot be read in the drive. |

5-5. If the disc is inserted upside-down, reinsert it in the proper
direction.
5-6. If the drive or disc was moved from a low temperature environment to
a high temperature environment, wait for a few minutes before attempting
to write as condensation may occur either on the lens in the drive or on
the surface of the disc.
5-7. Installing more than one CD Recording Software on a computer may
cause instability of operation. CD Recording Software must support the
CD-R/RW drive in order to recognize the drive. Contact the manufacturer of
your CD Recording Software to see whether the software supports the
CD-R/RW drive.
