Creating a CD or DVD
Please consult the user's manual for your CD/DVD Creation software for information on making
a CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, or DVD+RW disc.
Usage Guidelines
Keep the disc tray closed when not using the DVD+RW drive.
Do not press down on the disc tray when opening or closing it.
Do not place objects on the disc tray.
Never use a damaged, broken, or deformed disc.
Do not press the Open/Close button while the computer is accessing the disc.
NOTE: High-speed drives spin the disc at a high rotational speed. If a CD has printing
on only half the disc, or if there is a slight imbalance in the CD, the imbalance is
greatly magnified by the high speed, causing the drive to vibrate or produce a fan-like
noise. These effects are inherent in the high-speed technology and do not indicate a
problem with the drive
Emergency Ejection
When power is switched OFF or the eject button does NOT function, insert a metal rod
(an extended large paper clip with diameter of 1.2 mm or less is suitable) into the
emergency eject hole at a right angle to the front panel, then push the rod to eject the
disc. Do this only when the ON/BUSY indicator is not lit.
When removing a disc from its protective case or loading a disc into a drive, hold it
by its center hole and outer edge. Avoid touching the disc's data surface (non-labeled
side).
To protect the disc against scratches and dirt when not in use, keep it in its
protective case.
Cleaning a disc
Wipe gently with a soft, damp (water only) cloth. Always wipe from the center hole
towards the outer edge. Wiping in a circular motion can cause circular scratches which can
damage the disc.
There is no recommended cleaning kit available. Wet-type lens cleaners are strongly
discouraged, as they may cause damage to the drive. As long as the drive is used
in an ordinary office environment, there should be no need to clean the drive.
