When every computer has a TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card
and the Client Manager software installed, a profile setup, Internet
connection sharing must be installed.
Select one of your desktop computers to serve as the host
computer. The host computer must be running the Microsoft®
Windows® 98 Second Edition (SE), Windows
Millennium Edition (Me), or Windows 2000 operating system. The host
computer will be the only computer that links directly to the
Internet. Dell recommends that the host computer be the desktop with
the fastest microprocessor and largest amount of memory.
All other computers will be referred to as client computers.
NOTE: In order to perform Internet connection
sharing, your host computer has to have either a modem or
another network adapter in addition to your Dell
TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card. This modem or network
adapter will be used to access the Internet. Your Dell
TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card is used to share the
Internet connection with other client computers.
Setting Up Internet Connection
Sharing on the Host Computer
To install Internet connection sharing on your host computer based
on the operating system the computer is running, perform the
following steps:
Windows 98 Host Internet Connection Sharing
Installation
Connect the host computer to the Internet via a dial-up modem
or via a cable/xDSL modem.
Click Start->Settings->Control Panel
Double-click Add/Remove Programs
Click the Windows Setup tab.

Select the Internet Connection Sharing option, and then
click OK.
You may need to insert your Windows 98 CD into the CD drive if the files are not located on your
computer.
When the Internet Connection Wizard
screen appears, click Next
In the next step, the Internet Connection Sharing
Wizard asks you to specify the type of connection you wish to
share: dial-up or high-speed. Examples are given with each choice.
Note that the dial-up option includes ISDN, which indeed requires
dialing in to the Internet service provider, but not ADSL,
although that requires dialing in, too. If you have a cable modem,
choose high-speed. Configuring a cable modem, as with any
high-speed connection, may be complex. For this article, we will
look at dial-up connections first, because they are by far the
most common means of hooking up to the Internet. Second
because they are relatively standard.
Once you have chosen the dial-up connection type, you must
specify which settings to use. If you have only one Internet
service provider, you will have only one choice. If you have
multiple Internet service providers, you will see a menu of
choices similar to the one shown here. Click the one you want to
use, and then decide whether you want to dial in automatically
whenever you access the Internet. If you have only one phone line,
keep this option off to avoid bothering those who might be using
the phone.
If your choice is Dial-Up Connection you will
be automatically prompted to complete step 15. If you have
Selected High Speed Connection, proceed to step 14 then step 16.
NOTE:
This section applies, if you connect to the internet using Cable
Modem or Local Area Network (LAN).
On the Select the network adapter you want to use for
your Internet connection screen, select the modem or
network adapter that you use to connect to the Internet. (This is
not your Dell TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card.) and click
Next.
